Kawkab Scientific Bureau is a licensed pharmaceutical importer and one of Iraq's largest distributors, operating since 2008.
Who we are
Kawkab Scientific Bureau is one of the top five fast-growing local pharmaceutical distribution companies in Iraq and holds a significant share of the Iraqi market. It distributes and markets pharmaceutical products, and has grown by adding the right products to its portfolio as the market's needs have grown.
Kawkab Scientific Bureau was established in 2008. Despite the political and security conditions in Iraq at the time, it grew to become one of the country's top five distributors and the number one in infrastructure size.
From Baghdad, the bureau registers manufacturers' products with the Ministry of Health, imports them, and stores and distributes medicines, cosmetics and medical devices inside Iraq under a quality management system conforming to ISO 9001:2015 and GDP.
Systems and standards
We run an Enterprise Resource Planning system (Microsoft Dynamics) that links information flow between business functions and branches across the country. Each pallet location in the main warehouse is numbered and connected to the ERP, showing the product, quantity and batch stored there.
In 2013 we completed the largest upgrade of our main warehouses to comply with the principles of Good Distribution Practice, matching European standards and US-FDA regulations, and became the first pharmaceutical distribution company in Iraq to adopt them in storage and distribution.

Training is continuous, and the "social capital" rule keeps work flowing in parallel across departments, so the business runs locally under global standards.

Kawkab develops its employees through external training programmes delivered by international academic training companies, so they can use new tools and strategies that take the company to a higher level.
Since 2008, Kawkab has sought out committed and passionate team members, and takes part every year in conferences, events, debates, job fairs and seminars related to the pharmaceutical field, with programmes and social activities that support young people.
